The practice of Meditation was started during the Indus-Sarasvati civilization in India over 5,000 years ago. In the western world, it took thousand of to understand what is meditation, but today meditation is done all over the world.

For the Western world, meditation is a tool to ease stress, depression, anxiety, and addictions.

Let’s get started.

What is Transcendental Meditation?

The Transcendental Meditation technique is a form of silent mantra meditation, with no meanings of mantras. Which has been introduced into the Western world in 1950 from Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi: Transcendental Meditation Mantras is a very natural procedure of experiencing the more excellent state of the thinking process and arrive at the source of thought.

It is the pure field of creative intelligence; pure awareness and unbounded awareness are at the source of thought.

And through the practice of Transcendental Meditation, the awareness reaches the source of thought. One feels relaxed, one feels happy inside. The bodies anxieties disappear.

Transcendental Meditation is a practice for 15 to 20 minutes morning and evening, and everyone feels fresh throughout the day; more vital more energetic.

So Transcendental Meditation is a procedure for the enrichment of life, for the betterment of life, for more success and more progress and more joy of life.

Today, quite a few actors like Jerry Seinfeld, Hugh Jackman, Ellen Degeneres, along with Howard Stern openly said that T.M. shifted their lifestyles. The most favourite picture manager David Lynch also made a base to greatly disperse transcendental meditation round the whole world.

What is transcendental meditation mantras?

A mantra is a sound with no meaning effects that are known to be positive and life-supporting. This is more important because if mantra had any meaning it would keep the attention on the mind. If the mantra was pencil then you have the sound pencil, but then you also have the meaning implied in it.

In Transcendental Meditation we are taking the awareness from the surface thinking level, the conscious thinking level and using the mantra to settle down, dive within, transcend thought and fell the deepest level of experience thought.

If the mantra had any meaning it would keep us on the surface of our mind. So, this mantra that we learn during TM is a sound with no meaning effects known to be positive.

What happens during TM?

Deep within every human being, the mind of every human being, deep within all of us, is the level of the mind that is already calm, already settled, already wide awake.

The ancient meditation texts used the very big word they say it’s a source of our unbounded creativity, unbounded intelligence, happiness, focus, clarity.

It’s there … it was there– if is there–it was there yesterday, it’s there right now, it will be there tomorrow.. we have just lost access to it.

We stuck up here, we’re stuck up on the surface gotta level.

TM is a pure natural, effortless technique that allows the active thinking mind to just, all of it to settle down, and experience quieter levels of thought, and then experience what has been called ‘ the source of thought, or transcendent level of the mind, ‘pure consciousness,’ within every human being.

How Do We Know transcendental meditation really works?

So now How do we know something substantive is taking place? That we’re not just imagining this?

If it’s true that during Transcendental Meditation your mind is just effortlessly, comfortably settling down, experiencing quieter and quieter levels of the mind.

And then experiencing that source of thought, it must show up in a very profound and dramatic way during the meditation and it must show up in the body.

But basically, the research shows the TM your body gains a state of rest and relaxation in many regards deeper than the deepest part of deep sleep. And what that deep rest does is allow the build-up of stress, fatigue, tension, anxiety to dissolved, and eliminated.

When we get a state of deep rest, which I said that allows the body to repair itself, there ‘s a hormone probably some of you have heard of called cortisol. Cortisol is secreted by the adrenal glands, which sit on the kidneys when we’re anxious.

So when we’re anxious the body secretes cortisol, and then we secrete cortisol and we feel more anxious… it becomes the vicious cycle and then we feel more anxious, more cortisol, we get a good night sleep, cortisol levels drop bit that’s why we wake up feeling fresher in the morning.

Research shows that 20 minutes of Transcendental meditation cortisol levels drop 30%. That’s a significant reduction in this production of this anxiety hormone. A reduction in all sorts of range of disorders like bipolar disorder, trait anxiety.

How transcendental meditation is different?

For this, we look back to scientific research, because, as I said, research shows that every experience changes the brain, and basically we know from science that there are three different types of meditation.

The first type of meditation is ‘Focused attention,’ and focused attention is like vipassana meditation, any meditation that involves some concentration of the mind.

Trying to clear your mind of thoughts, trying to concentrate on your breathing. It’s like trying to stop eaves from moving, it’s trying to stop the wave on the surface.

The second type of meditation is called ‘open monitoring. That’s a mindfulness form of meditation. That’s how to disengage emotionally, observe and be present and mindful of your environment, and conscious of your thoughts. That would just be keeping the rise and fall of the waves on the surface of your mind.

Transcendental meditation does not involve any concentration, and it’s not just an observational tool.

It’s an actual technique called ‘automatic self-transcending.’ It allows that active thinking mind to experience quieter and quieter levels of thought, and then transcend thought and experience the self, experience our unbounded nature.
